What is a Packable Daypack?
A packable daypack is an ultralight backpack that can fit in your luggage (or even your pocket).
They usually compress into a small pouch.

They come in a range of sizes, some tiny and ultralight with one compartment, others bulkier
with many of the pockets and features you’d expect in a regular backpack. They are also
sometimes called a foldable backpack or collapsible backpack.

Why Travel with a Packable Backpack?
Sometimes I empty out my main 40L backpack to use as a daypack on long hikes, but often
we want something smaller for sightseeing. A light, foldable backpack is ideal as it fits inside
our luggage on travel days.

A collapsible daypack is also useful when you don’t need a bag for the whole day. You could
pack a folding backpack inside your handbag or pocket to use when needed-for shopping
or if you want to remove your sweater or jacket later.

How to Choose the Best Packable Backpack
Capacity – We find 16 liters is suitable for a fleece, water bottle, snacks and Kindle. And if you
usually need to fit in both your laptops (15 and 11 inches). We recommend the 24 liters.
Weight – The lighter, the better. We prefer under 250g (8.5oz). If you want ultralight, there
are packs under 100g (3.5oz).
Size When Packed – Small enough to pack into the inside pocket to create a compact pouch
that doesn’t take up much space in your main luggage.
Pockets – Two water-bottle pockets stretch to fit your favorite vessel
Weather resistance -water and puncture resistant.
Durability – CORDURA fabrics, trusted by many militaries around the globe. YKK zipper,
the world’s largest zipper manufacturer.

My commuting bag I love this pack! I use it for my daily commute on public light rail because I don’t want to carry my lunch or jacket or whatever in a hiking pack or a shopping bag. I got the 24 liter and it holds a lot! And if I’m only carrying stuff one-way, I can stuff it in its little stuff sac and hold it in my hand, or in a pocket even. I actually fit a big clunky pair of steel-toe work boots in it and still had room for my lunch! And being a total mountaineering gear junkie, I can say that this…

Great deal for this little pack Great deal for this little pack! Took it on a trip to Europe and it held up really well! Both the front pocket and main compartment stored a lot more than I anticipated. At its maximum capacity I managed to fit a microfiber towel, book, journal, med kit, water bottle, and puffy down sweater inside the main compartment while also having the front pocket filled with smaller accessories. I even wore this pack on multiple occasions with very heavy rain (to the point where my rain boots had puddles…

The perfect little daypack I love this pack. I had a Mission Peak Gear Fast2100 foldable pack that was great, and very inexpensive. I liked that pack a lot, but it was a little big at 30L, so I didn’t stow it in other larger bags and for a regular daypack it was not wonderful. I ended up giving that one to my dad, and buying am 18L Gregory for planned hikes near home. But I still had a gap for overnight backpacking trips where I typically make camp early afternoon and have time to explore my area before dinner. This…
