Helen’s Asian Kitchen Rice Washing Bowl with 3-quart capacity is a specially designed Japanese rice washing bowl for soaking and thoroughly washing rice before it’s cooked. The flat solid base stabilizes the bowl for soaking and the perforated side strainer keeps smaller food in and allows water and debris to drain out. The angled side helps in draining the water easily with just a simple tip onto its side. It’s convenient for making rice recipes that call for soaking the rice before it’s cooked. Whether using brown rice, jasmine rice, basmati, wild, white and short grain rice, known as sticky rice due to its glue-like consistency when cooked, and other types of rice, a thorough cleaning in the Rice Washer can significantly reduce toxins and chemical levels incurred during the growing process. So easy to use. Simply measure in rice and add enough fresh water to cover it. Follow the recipe instructions for the amount of soaking time. To clean the rice, cover it with fresh water and vigorously swish fingers through. Tilt the bowl on its side and drain. Loose bran, starch, and other debris, will float on top of the water drain easily through the side strainer. Repeat until water is no longer cloudy. Doubles nicely as a multipurpose kitchen strainer for soaking and washing dried beans or grains, like quinoa and barley, and soaking produce, like berries and sprouts, in a vinegar-water solution for a more thorough clean. Made from stainless steel, Helen Chen’s Rice Washing Bowl is lightweight and durable. Dishwasher safe for easy cleanup. Brought to you by HIC Harold Import Co.

Great rice cooker accessory My brown rice is getting better. This rinses well and has not clogged up on me. Also, the stainless steel cleans quick. I recently bought a rice cooker and can rice 3 to 4 cups of rice in this strainer before it goes to the cooker. A rinse and a 30 minute soak have made it a lot easier for fluffy rice.
Attractive and functional I love this colander because it doesn’t have holes in the bottom, so you can sit it on the counter after draining vegetables without dripping water all over the counter. The lip on the bowls edge also makes pouring off the excess water easier without losing any vegetables
Loving the way it rests in the wash and drain positions but…beware the lip. The lip filter is stamped on and metal edges are not safety edge beveled on the inner rim of the overhang in the lower right of the picture…. rather sharp (read slice you up if your run your finger along it).I was sliced as I was spinning this strainer around but maybe others have better luck than I do.The actual strainer properties and tilt to was bevels work wonderfully for cleaning rice. I wouldn’t use this on much more than 4 gou of rice but the holes are small enough to…
