It is warm white, and very bright for AA’s, so far so good. Dropped it twice from the bed to carpeted ground (just a few feet) did not flicker out at all, not going to stress test the durability. This lamp is warm white. I’m writing this review on April 05, 2017. It seems the product page was updated so there are old reviews of the non-warm white on the page. As such, I emailed the company inquiring on the color temperature of the bulb. Here is a quote of their response:
Another feature that I like is the handles I am impressed with this camping lantern. The lantern is compact and still puts off a lot of light. I plan to replace my 20 year old propane lantern with this battery operated version. I was surprised at the amount of light produced with 3 AA batteries. Another feature that I like is the handles. The handles are used to lock the lantern closed when not in use. They will be great for carrying the lantern when camping. I am like the lantern so much that I am purchasing 2 more today.
This thing is BRIGHT! I am so happy with this lantern. The size is perfect and WOW it is bright! I do a lot of kayaking and trying to tie down a kayak after dark is always a problem and a pain. I was thrilled to find out this fits perfectly in a gallon sized Ziploc bag. Even though it is not waterproof, I can put it in a Ziploc, throw it in my pack and be on my way. When I am ready to load I just set my AlaskaNite on the ground and I can see! I don’t even have to take it out of the bag.
