It’s not perfect, but after testing it out quite a few … It’s not perfect, but after testing it out quite a few times in the woods, I’ve found that it will get you close enough to your campsite. By that I mean it doesn’t provide accuracy within .000001th of a micron, but it took me to my tent and truck every time while being maybe a few feet off. My only gripe is that it takes a good while to get a signal, but if you’re lost in the woods, what’s a couple of minutes? Your opinion on that may vary depending on your individual situation.
Simple and effective, if you understand its limitations I already own a complicated and comprehensive GPS device, loaded with topo maps and advanced capabilities. I purchased the Backtrack G2, however, precisely because it doesn’t have all those features. Most of the time when traveling (especially overseas), all I need to know is how to get back to my hotel or car after having wandered about for hours down winding streets in unfamiliar cities. Invaluable tool.. if and when it works These Backtrackers are an excellent and invaluable tool to have. This is my second one. I lost my first one and have made it a point to get a replacement immediately.
