Beware of Columbia size tags — redux. I bought these pants as a present for an older relative of mine whose waist is 39″ and normally wears pants of other brands of size 38×31″ or 40×31″ depending on the manufacturer. Given the proclivity of Columbia for slightly longer inseams than expected, and this Product Page indicating a fit “as expected” or smaller, I ordered the size 40×30″ expecting to get a 39×31. Alas, what arrived was 42×32″; the attached figure shows that the pants measure 21″across the waist when lying flat…

Customer for life. The best pants you will ever buy. My husband had these on a deployment to the middle east. These were perfect for both the scorching hot weather and freezing nights in the desert. My favorite I normally wear 34×31 in jeans. I bought several of the Pilsner Peak, the Silver Ridge, and Blood and Guts pants for comparison.Pilsner Peak pants: Fits a bit slim. Especially at the waist. Probably closer to 33 inches than 34. It rides a bit lower on the hip than the Silver Ridge and therefor a bit snug in the crotch. The length are the same. The Pilsner Peak are closer in style to a typical dress pants. Just one extra slot for pen or knife. The rear pocket is not flapped…
