Use this premium multipurpose axe to easily cut, chop, split, carve, shave, hew, and hammer. The 2 lb. head is made of 5160 steel and is heat-treated on both ends for outstanding strength. The axe also features a curved hickory handle and includes a welted leather mask to protect the super-sharp axe edge.

Great heavier hatchet. I have been looking for a large hatchet/pack ax for a while and ended up with this one. It works great, it is small enough to fit in my pack and heavy enough to get splitting/trimming/cutting work done. I especially like the hardened poll for pounding tent stakes and the cutout that allows choking up on the blade for carving. The striker on the spine is nice as well.

Too soft for 5160. Mine is wayyyyy too soft. Rolls edges quicker than a Cuban can roll a cigar. The design is nice, the steel in theory should be great, but it’s (mine, at least) just not heat treated well. I even reduced the edge angle. But it’s softer than a Fiskars hatchet and doesn’t hold an edge as long. The other thing was the sheath was too tight at first, and after some conditioning it’s too loose. It slipped off and a fresh edge sliced almost all the way through the top of it. I know council was very…
