Where minimal design meets maximum utility.

The Pilar is a super compact everyday carry folder with distinctive minimalist design and an epic tale behind its name. It’s low profile and understated when tucked away, and carefully designed to punch above its weight when in use.

Jesper Voxnaes designed the Pilar in his Logstrup, Denmark shop, and named it after Ernest Hemingway’s beloved boat—the 38-foot long vessel that he used for renegade surveillance of German U-boats during WWII in Caribbean waters. The world-famous author was also a WWI combat vet, big-game hunter, sailor, and fisherman, and certainly would have selected an everyday knife companion like the Pilar for his daily endeavors.

The 2.4” flat grind blade features a satin finish and the fine, but strong tip is useful for more detailed tasks. It’s deployed from its stainless steel handle with a thumb slot opening mechanism and is secured with a frame lock for your safety.

The modern Hemingway is the ultimate Renaissance man, and the Pilar is the knife that will stand up to the challenge.

This is a nice little knife This is a nice little knife, the fit and finish is great and it feels good in the hand. The blade looks pretty impressive in person, it’s almost like a drop-point cleaver 🙂 Heavier than expected but it’s because of the beefy handle and thick blade. When it’s locked open the blade is 100% solid, no give whatsoever.I saw others complain about the blade sticking when locked so I had a look at mine. It looks like the base of the blade that engages the lock has been ground down…

Every Once In A While Someone Designs And Manufactures A “Value Engineered” Knife In partnership with CRKT, well-known Danish knife maker Jesper Voxnaes has designed and built a very compact EDC knife that is built like a Sherman Tank. This liner lock folder is only about 3.5 inches long when folded. The 2.4 inch flat grind blade has a satin finish and the handle is bead blasted. A very sharp cutting edge ends in a fine but strong tip, useful for those delicate tasks that most folders wouldn’t even attempt to try. And yet it provides much more personal protection than…

Love this knife so much!! I bought the Pilar along with the Squid and it’s been a few weeks now since I’ve had them. The Pilar is the first knife I’ve owned with a thumb hole and I honestly love it!! As someone else said in a review I saw, “The Pilar is a Squid knife on steroids”. And thats the truth. This knife is a lot thicker than the Squid and is just overall amazing. Sharp out of the box. I prefer the Pilar over the Squid mainly because I love the thumb hole. Easier to one hand open. Still need more…
