Built by a hero, refined by an expert.

Retired Sergeant Major, Darrin Sirois channeled experience from 25 years of active duty into the creation of his original design. The knife world loved it. Then, renowned expert, Chris Williams made several small suggestions. The revisions boosted the SiWi compact tactical fixed blade into a league all its own. This is collaboration at its finest.

If there’s one thing that Darrin Sirois has learned from his time overseas, it’s that if a tool can’t endure some of the most extreme conditions imaginable, it’s not worth having on hand. So when he was in his Fayetteville, North Carolina shop, designing the knife that was to later become the SiWi, his mission was singular: make it last. Then Chris Williams stepped in. He’s a master of aesthetic, and with several small tweaks, together they elevated the SiWi to a design force to be reckoned with and gave it a name that reflects the collaborative process. Match made.

This mission-ready fixed blade is a compact powerhouse. Though that sounds like a paradox, the proof is in the incredibly stout modified drop point SK5 carbon steel blade. Finished with a non-reflective and highly resistant black-powder coat, it’s built to last, a quality that’s equally as evident in its unique G10 handles. The handles match the 3.3” blade in its compact-yet-stout capacity with texture for a strong grip even in the grittiest conditions. The subte jimping on the back spine finishes the look and feel. Finally, the glass-reinforced nylon sheath stands up to its counterpoint when it comes to utility with many different carry options.

When two great minds converge to create a knife, you know it’s going to be good…the SiWi far exceeds expectation.

About the Forged By War program

In 2013, Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical, designer of elite, military, tactical tomahawks, approached CRKT with the news that he had been working with a few combat veterans that had returned from war with varying degrees of post-traumatic stress (PTS).

To help work through their challenges, they have been designing and forging steel into custom tools. Drawing from their experience earned in combat situations, they have been creating tools they wished they had available to them in the battlefield.

CRKT cares deeply about our returning veterans and we saw a way to give back to the community that created them. In 2016, we launched the Forged By War program.

These are mission ready tools, designed by veterans, with 10% of the CRKT net profits of the program donated to the veterans’ charity of choice.

Outstanding 5 starsThe blade is 0.2in thickIts sharp. Powder coated blk. Powder coat is extremely durable.G10 very scalloped grippy handle design. Really cant say enough about how good the handle is. Perfect fit for all types of hand positions including reverse grip. Scallops perfectly match fingers of my size large mens hand.Kydex style sheath with plenty of well placed holes for various carry positions. Could use tension adjust.I’d like it tighter. My choice was to add…

Excellent knife! Simple, elegant, practical, and highly ergonomic design. I have not carried a fixed blade prior to this, but the SIWI is the perfect size for every day carry. The blade came quite sharp from the factory and the kydex sheath is well made. I didn’t know if I would like the scalloped grip, but it fits my hand perfectly. It is obvious that a lot of thought went into this design, and the designer certainly has the credentials to know what goes into a useful knife.

Durable ergonomic EDC knife. I added this knife to my EDC a little over a week ago. This is now by far my favorite knife I have owned. The handle was designed to be ergonomic no matter which way you hold it. It also features a full tang. Since this is harder steel the knife will keep its edge longer but will also equally be harder to sharpen. The one complaint I have doesn’t even have anything to do with the knife. It’s the clip system that it comes with. I personally think it’s too bulky for how I like to carry…
