Huge improvement, size is a little different. This one is a little wider than the standard one that came with my original pack but I can tell it has been better engineered. It has a much better clip seal on top and a higher quality rubber. Overall it is a vastly improved product and fits in existing bags with a little convincing.
Perfect… except the bite valve I bought this to replace my old one which popped when I fell on my back from a big jump while snowboarding last year.Wide opening makes it easier to refill.The tube has a really good quality/durability feel to it.***The bite valve section is the piece I have issues with. Makes water taste like chemicals (bad). If cancer has a flavor, I imagine it tastes like the water you put in the Dakine – Hydrapack reservoir. I bought the 3L one to take on climbing, snowboarding trips. I used it for the first time yesterday when I went up to Mt. Adams to try to summit it and ski it down. Before I used it for the first time I washed it with biodegradable soap and water and rinsed it well to remove any dust or residues from packaging and warehousing.
