Great fit! I am using this shoulder guard to protect a wound on a yearlingâs shoulder. I ordered a medium, fully expecting to take it in at the wither, but it was not required. This means they probably run smaller than the other brands I have, so keep that in mind. Being young, he does a lot more laying down and getting up than an older horse would, but this guard stays firmly In place. The fit is just about perfect. Looks nice but runs really small! This appears to be a nice product but it runs really small! So small in fact that I have to send it back for a larger size. My Thoroughbred wears a size 76 blanket and has worn a size large shoulder guard in the past, but the Derby Originals size large would barely fasten around my mare’s belly. Order one size larger for a good fit.
The answer to my OTTB being eaten by flies! This has saved my OTTB from the flies that literally eat him alive!!! The flies do not bother my Bay horse, But they go after this one like crazy. There is nothing wrong with him, and he is well vetted, but something about him drives the flies crazy and nothing would help before. I tried everything. His chest was being bitten badly.
