They usually last about 2 years before the metal handle breaks or, in the case of the blue handled hammer, the foam detaches from the metal handle. I hope by using the wound leather handle, I can keep this from happening. My hammers start heavy at 4lbs but they lose enough weight (from mushrooming) that they probable weight 3 lbs late in their usable life. I use these splitters under extreme duty and can’t…
