It’s required on initial use for warranty registration. Company stood behind their product I’ve updated my review from Oct 28 because something important happened. In my original review I explained how i had a gen2. worked great at first. then after the battery ran dawn because i didn’t use it, it would no longer take a charge. the battery design is defective. the battery can’t be replaced. so now its a paperweight. and that’s why i didn’t recommend buying it.
