Scriber The best inexpensive scriber I’ve found. Simple, easy to adjust and well made for the price. The wing nut setting holds securely.Update: Well, I’ve had this scriber for a while now and found it not to be as sturdy as the same scriber made years ago. It’s still OK, but far more tinny and bendy than units 20 years or so old. Too bad, the design is good but General has cheapened their product to the point that it’s barely usable for scribing in finish carpentry work.

Low quality. Received with damage. I thought I was getting a good deal on a compass, but this tool is very low quality and in my opinion, is not worth even one dollar. I didn’t notice when I removed the compass from its packaging, but the holder portion of the compass was squashed down, making it impossible to insert a pencil . Since I needed this compass for a fencing project I was knee-deep in the middle of, to scribe the fence bottom to contour to uneven ground, I tapped a Phillips-head screw driver through the pencil holder…
