About Gerber: A History of Innovation
Savvy. Moxie. Craftsmanship. Attention to detail. These are just a few of the company traits that have contributed to Gerber’s emergence as a world leader in outdoor gear. Joseph Gerber started Portland, Oregon’s Gerber Advertising back in 1910, and one Christmas, he hired a local knife-maker to craft 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as client gifts. The knives were so popular Mr. Gerber ultimately left his agency to launch Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939.

It makes sense, really. An idea man gets the idea of a lifetime and turns it into a major outdoor brand–one that commands respect among knife lovers and knife makers alike. And now that same high regard is spreading in new directions, in the form of many outstanding products such as tools, personal L.E.D. lighting, and more

Good balance between weight and utility First, this is a useful functioning tool. The screwdrivers have crisp edges compared. The really cheap multi-tools for $10 are just junk…pieces of metal. This Gerber model has nice tools. The pliers is good and is particularly useful when I’m fishing and I can get the pliers out with one hand. This tool is comparable to my Leatherman Wingman in terms of weight and usefulness. I find the Wingman to be a bit too polished and just a bit small. This Gerber has more to hold onto. The…

Dont buy the black one This multi-plier is my first one so i’m no very experienced about these multi-tools.Pros: Cool design. You can find the essential toold on this multi-plier. Good quality knife. The plier is retracable and very easy to access.Cons: The black version has black greasy stuff all over it, my hands get dirty when using this. It takes a little practice to open and close all the tools.I would recomend people to buy the stainless version.

M. Partyka says:

Wow Gerber, not your best product! Let me start by saying, DON”T BUY THE BLACK FINISH! I’ve owned Gerber products before (actually destroyed an older pair of multi-plier and they replaced!) and this is nothing special. I was okay with the reviews in regards to lack of durability and the notch on the wrong side of the blade. But….the black finish is horrible! Once out of the package, the finish was coming off on my hands. So I figured that it was oil or something and wiped it down with a rag. What a mistake! They now look…
