Hard Anodized Extreme® frypan with lid and gripper provides the gourmet performance you demand and the light weight that you need. The 8″ frypan with lid, gripper, polypropylene cup and bowl weigh only 1lb.3oz.The Extreme mess kit combines the gourmet performance you want with the light weight you need, making it a favorite of hikers and backpackers. The mess kit starts with a 1-quart cooking pot and a 7.5-inch frypan that doubles as a lid for the pot.

The items nest together for easy packing and carrying. Both cookware items are made of hard-anodized aluminum, an even-heating cooking material that withstands scratches and abrasions like nothing else. The mess kit also includes a 6-inch polypropylene bowl and a 12-ounce polypropylene cup. And to make it easier to lift your cookware, the kit comes with an exclusive DiamondBack Gripper handle that attaches securely to exterior brackets on the pot and frypan. The brackets preserve both the interior and exterior pot finishes while still letting you detach the handle for easy storage.

All the items in the Extreme mess kit nest together and fit inside the included mesh storage bag. The items pack small, travel light, and withstand a ton of abuse.

About GSI Outdoors
GSI opened its doors in 1985, after a small group of British Columbian siblings made their way down the West Coast to San Diego. Beginning with a few pieces of blue enamelware and a smattering of campfire accessories, GSI Outdoors grew through the years to include full design, manufacturing, sales, and marketing departments, all tasked with developing and marketing an ever-more-innovative line of outdoor cookware, tableware, and accessories. Siblings Don, Ian, and Kathy Scott eventually relocated to Spokane, Washington, where they continue to define innovation through the creation of unique, imaginative, and fun products that reassert their enthusiasm for the outdoors. GSI Outdoors is still a small, privately held company, with no obligation to shareholders, a corporate board, or anyone else aside from its customers and employees.

Perfect for One or or Two People This is perfect for my one-person camping/backpacking trips. It fits really well in my dog’s backpack, so I have space for heavier things. I would recommend wrapping the handle or keeping it separate, because it does rattle around if you don’t, and could scratch the non-stick coating on the pans.

Better than I expected. Great little mess kits. I remember the disappointment from the first time I tried to use a cheap aluminum mess kit as a kid. Everthing burned, everything stuck, and I carried more of my charred meal in my backpack than I did in my belly. Come forward 25 years, and my oldest son has crossed over into boy scouts. He needs a mess kit, and since I’ll be camping with him on some trips, I needed one too. I get tired of buying stuff that’s too cheap or too expensive and regretting it. This set is reasonably priced and…

Scouts, this is the cookset you need We are a family of Scouts and Scouters (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and parents who are adult leaders). This is our favorite cookset among all of those we’ve tried and seen in use by others. We’ve used these for years. For starters, the Teflon pans make for easy cleanup. The set is light enough and compact enough that we use it on backpacking trips as well as car camping. The pans are stable and functional on most lightweight stoves as well as on stoves with larger burners. The removable pan…
