The box is beautiful. It is not the sturdiest The box is beautiful. It is not the sturdiest, but it presents well as a gift box. The compass came very well protected in multiple layers of bubble wrap. It is heavy, sturdy, and will make an excellent conversation piece. However, please note that this is not a camping compass. It is beautiful on a desk or self, but not suitable for using for directions. While the compass does work, it is not easy to read and the needle bounces a lot. Great gift I purchased two of these as part of graduation gifts. Both guys really liked them. The inlaid box is very nice and the compass is super good looking. For such an inexpensive item, this looks high quality.
