What to do, when it’s stifling hot and yet you need to go tactical and need all the tactical functionality of the UTP pants? Try the UTS, Urban Tactical Shorts. The cut and pocket layout allows them to stay civilian enough not to disclose the wearer’s identity, while still allowing room to wear a full set of tactical equipment. Elastic velcro-closed belt allows a measure of adjustment within the size. Large belt loops allow wide belts like EDC, UTL or Cobra. The cut prevents losing the shorts while wearing.

By the judicious layout of the pockets, equipment can be placed close to the center mass, around the hips and waist. Front and rear pockets edges are reinforced to withstand constant movement of light or knife clips. Two velcro-closed front pockets are big enough to carry a smartphone – or even an AR/AK rifle magazine. Thigh zippered pockets look flat – but its design allows pouches or wallets to be carried with ease. A wide variety of colors allows to match shorts to the rest of wardrobe or working conditions.

Good shorts; needs a bigger “cell phone pocket” I have several pairs of tactical pants from 5.11 and Propper in various styles and materials. This is my first pair of shorts. These weren’t intended to be an elite tacticool short, but rather a short I can wear around the yard while doing yard work and in regular everyday life with plenty of room to store stuff, especially at amusement parks. The pants fit well. As others have stated, they are a slightly slimmer fit than most tactical pants. I’m 6’2″, 190, thinner build, so…

Decent shorts…a little tight in the thighs, and the Velcro on one thigh came off after about 5 months I have to say I really like these shorts. The pockets are perfectly placed for me. The only complaint I would have is that the shorts are a little tight in the thighs. Not so tight that they look funny, but the normal pockets are difficult to use. I really only clip my knife to that pocket and just use the cargo pockets and thigh pockets. The back pockets are a little strangely cut (similar to the 5.11 pants), but not really a deal-breaker. The length could do with about another inch or…

great fit and design, poor workmanship The overall design was excellent. I give it a two for innovation, fit and materials. However workmanship was a zero. The sewing work was terrible, I spent a total of 1.5 hrs. repairing the stitching and cleaning off of string ends. This looks to have been made in a sweat shop with a low-grade sewing machine by an unmotivated teen. Broken stitches, incomplete stitches, sewing machine string tension miss adjusted and completely messed up stitches. I work in aerospace and this pair of shorts…
