Steps to Light: 1. Touch the tip of the barrel to the charcoal or wood. At 1300 degrees you have more than two times the temperature required to ignite wood. 2. Once you start seeing embers, pull the tip slightly away while leaving the button depressed. The blower will continue to fan the flames. 3. Continue until you receive the desired level of fire started. Specifications: Durable polycarbonate handle, aluminum cooling shroud, steel cased heating element and cooling stand. greatest way to start the grill (Kamando) This is the third device I have owned. the resistance coil I got worked but I melted it by leaving it in the coals too long. the second one had a design flaw that used a removable tip that never stayed on once things got hot and I had to fish it out of the coals. This one is perfect. Literally takes less than 3 min to start the coals and nothing falls off. Highly recommend it. It will be the last one I own till it dies and then I willl buy another.
Works But There’s A Catch I had a problem with my fire starter. It only worked once, and in the middle of the second time it just stopped while I was starting a charcoal fire and it wouldn’t restart. The next morning I contacted HomeRight and a very nice lady explained that there is an internal shutoff that kicks in if it overheats, and it won’t restart until it cools down. Good purchase. Amazing concept. Seems to be well executed in this product. In just a couple minutes you can start your coal exactly where you want and as much as you want. In the Big Green Egg I don’t have to dig a divot to place a fire starter, and it’s much better than the “hot bar” electric starters because it’s much faster and you can control exactly where you are lighting and how deep you want the coals lit.
