The odor is real. I ignored the bad reviews which described a strong odor. I took it out of the packaging and tried to let it air out for a few weeks. It did not work.The odor isn’t really strong, but enough to make me wonder what’s inside this thing. Going to return it. I didn’t try freezing, so not sure if that’ll help.
It stinks! Garbage… Do not buy! The chemical stench won’t go away, and it’s a strong smell.It doesn’t stay cold for long.It doesn’t hold heat well, nor does it heat enough to reheat safely, per the instructions (it says 2 minutes but you need to leave it in for at least 8 to get it hot).Big and flexible. Wish it wasn’t such a piece of trash.
Soft fabric and stay cold a long time, but horrible CHEMICAL SMELL When I first received these, I thought that they were really great. I originally ordered 2. and I then ordered 2 more once I got the first 2 because they seemed well made and I liked the size and soft material. They stayed cold for a good length of time and seemed well made, but after using them the first time, once they unfroze, they began giving off an extremely strong, foul chemical odor that made them unusable. Unfortunately, I am returning all 4 ice packs due to the awful smell.
