This is the ideal cooling solution for small aquariums, 55 gallons or less. This quiet, reliable efficient chiller uses advanced thermoelectric technology to directly convert electricity into cooling power. Can be easily bulkheaded through a 1 1/4 in. hole into siphon overflows, prefilters, sumps or even directly into plastic aquariums. Provides continuous chilling when plugged in to a power source, it does not have an on/off switch. A separate temperature controller must be used to turn the device on or off at pre-determined temperatures.

cool little gizmo…. so i am leaving this review in hopes of helping someone who is in the same boat i was…. i grow plants hydroponically in a dwc bubbleponics 5 gallon bucket and had a very hard time finding a way to keep the nutrient solution at the desired 60-70f temperature while having having 75-85f ambient air surrounding my bucket in my grow cabinet. after deciding a chiller was a waste of money for one 5 gallon bucket and frozen water bottles being a pain in the ass i needed a new idea. the ice probe…

These do work if you only need to cool the water by 3-5 degrees Fahrenheit I have this on a 6 gallon tank. These do work if you only need to cool the water by 3-5 degrees Fahrenheit, from the ambient temp. (Unless you combine it with evaporative cooling with a fan?) If you need further cooling, you probably should look for an actual aquarium chiller.
