Unfortunately, the thing couldn’t keep ice for 2 days even inside my air conditioned house. If I were to do it again, id have spent the extra $200 for something that could actually keep ice for 5+ days at a 74 degree temperature.
Disappointed! Very disappointed! This cooler is advertised as having a 30 – 40% thicker body. Not true! This cooler has 1.5 inch thick sidewalls. My old Igloo Marine and Maxicold coolers have 1.6 inch thick outside walls. Both have high density insulation. The STX cooler has 4 indentations in the lid that go completely through the lid to the outer layer. The old cooler does not have these awful indentations. These indentations will obviously allow heat to radiate trough the walls of the lid…
Not a YETI. Not even close. But a good cooler. I bought the Igloo Super Tough STX 54 Q cooler in the hopes that it would perform significantly better than a run-of-the-mill store bought cooler. I bought it after having cooler envy at my friend’s Yeti cooler. I wasn’t going to pay 450 bucks or whatever for a cooler, but I wanted something that could keep ice at least through a long weekend.
