Wastes Water to Pre-Clean It’s ridiculous to have to waste a gallon of water to essentially clean and purge the filter prior to use. This should be done by the manufacturer prior to shipment and in all likelihood can be done more efficiently without taxing precious water resources and the environment.

Better than Sears!!! I am very satisfied with this Kenmore 9980 – Water filter that I purchased from MORE Pure filter’s. I went to buy it from Sears – it was way more expensive and it was going to take two weeks to get it. I went on Amazon and found it with MORE Pure filter’s – not only was it cheaper but I got it within two days. I actually have already purchased another one for a back up. thank you!!!

Reviews can always be updated There is a gigantic price difference between the OEM Kenmore Elite #9980 refrigerator water filter and it’s competitor replacements. Unless you live somewhere with nasty tasting tap water, and maybe even then, the “Amazon’s Choice” replacements (3pk at a fraction of the cost) work just fine, and the water tastes just as good.
