A nice little axe A nice little axe. It had a chip in the blade when it arrived and the handle was thicker then the head plus the head needed some re profiling, but they all do. Nice to see that someone paid attention to the grain of the wood when making the handle. It is hung straight and with the right wedge. Obviously it is not a heavy working axe but ideal for backpacking , hunting and camp use.
Nice little axe Very nice. It is a Marbles axe (stamped on the blade). Hen and Rooster is just the product distributor. The Hen and Rooster MR704 has an overall length of 20 inches and feels like a small axe rather than a hatchet. Very versatile. You can use one hand or two. Mine was pretty sharp right out of the box, enough to shave fatwood. I am pleased with this purchase.
I think the axe is a good bargain though it has been tough sourcing a nice … My axe appears to be the one commonly marketed as Marbels MR704. The axe arrived sharp, the grain on the handle was aligned properly and there was no give or play between the axe head and handle after two of weeks use in the back country. I think the axe is a good bargain though it has been tough sourcing a nice sheath for it so I have resorted to making one. I do appreciate the slightly longer handle for bigger cutting jobs than a traditional camp axe.
