SO Glad To Have My Original Merrels Back!! Haven’t owned a pair of Chameleon’s in a number of years after wearing out my first pair about 7 years ago. I immediately bought a replacement pair in 2010, but the design had changed somewhat and I seem to recall that the ankle “collar” had a seam at the back which rubbed incessantly on my achilles area creating some of the worst blisters I have ever had. Another pair I tried were no better and I wound up returning both pairs and went to another brand of shoe – until now…
I tested the new system and they stayed in place much better than before Bought as a replacement for my Chameleon 4’s. I bought an extra set of bungee laces from a separate manufacturer since I have had problems with the stretch laces staying in place once the fastener was set in place before on two occasions. I tested the new system and they stayed in place much better than before. I guess, Merrell must have had other customer complaints besides mine.
