2nd Pair Works Great The first pair Amazon sent me had been opened and had electronic issues. But the 2nd pair works wonderfully. Use it for fishing trips and anytime I need to stay in contact when calling on a cellphone isn’t practical. Helped a ton when I was blowing insulation into my attic to communicate with the person loading the blowing machine.Got it mainly for the range and charging flexibility. Either use the dock or charge individually with USB.No you won’t get the listed range in…
Range is severely limited Very high quality radio. Doesn’t feel cheap or light and sound quality is great. Like most radios claiming 30+ miles I know that real world is much much less. Tested these vs. two others inside a vehicle. Terrain was desert suburbia west of Phoenix. I used a GPS navigating straight line and the max distance was just over 500ft before I lost reception. I returned for a higher wattage Midland radio
No so good on a Cruise Ship We bought these for use on a cruise ship brand new. The battery pack lasted 1 day. The ship must have cut off the signal with all the steel and walls, but if we were off the ship and someone was outside the ship on a deck, the worked just under 1 mile. We used the High Power Output Channel too. They are decent radios but the price is high for how good they are.
