If you want to be elsewhere for a while, listen to Oblivion Hymns! I’d been a fan of Common Children since college. A fan of Marc Byrd and Christine Glass. I have no idea why I hadn’t listened to Hammock between then and now, but I’d heard of them and finally set aside some time to listen.Other people have written more and better than me, but I’ll just add that there’s something almost transcendental about Oblivion Hymns. Time seems to forget to advance…or it advances too quickly. Sometimes it’s one, sometimes it’s the other. Extremely cinematic…

It’s like music being played through a tunnel under water on a alien planet that’s so deep space it will never be found I’ve been a fan of hammock for a few yrs now and I noticed something about em through their album releases. Thank you, Hammock. This is sublime. This has become my favorite Hammock album. It’s the best example of that huge, orchestral sound that Hammock can accomplish. It’s also (in my opinion) the album of theirs with the most pathos in every moment. What I mean is that there’s deep, heavy emotion in every song, and sometimes I have to stop what I’m doing while I listen to it and just shiver. It’s that good.
