Great for Trails, not Rock An excellent hiking boot that really excels on trails and long distances. Fit is nice with a roomy toe box. The high collar and full gore tex will keep you dry in the hardest rain. Spent 3 days above 6000ft with rain every day and my feet were completely dry at the end of each day (using arc’teryx alpha sl pants). Aggressive, raised heel that does really well in trails. Little break in time and my go to boot when I won’t be doing any rock scrambling where a fall would be serious.

Taking longer to break in than I anticipated So I’m a female and purchased these because they were $100 cheaper that the Women’s version (Although the price of these jumped up significantly over the past week…most likely from another vendor). Thru Hiked the Appalachian Trail with this boot I began my thru hike of the AT in Feb with the original version of this boot. It lasted me over 1,000 miles until PA where the rocks kind of tore it up a bit. The boot was still good to go but I had a pair of unused Merrell’s waiting at home so I decided to get those sent out.
