The Sawyer Mini Water Filter is a second generation filter that is the lightest and most versatile personal filtration system from Sawyer. With a total field weight of 2 ounces it fits in the palm of your hand. This tiny filter does the same job that the Sawyer PointOne filter does but now in a more compact, personal size. The Sawyer Mini filter is perfect for everything from camping with the kids to traveling abroad where tap and bottle water cannot be trusted.

The filter removes 7 log (99.99999%) of all bacteria (like salmonella) as well as other harmful bacteria which causes cholera and E. coli and 6 log (99.9999%) of all protozoa such as giardia and cryptosporidium. These removal rates equal or exceed other filter options. EPA guidelines allow ten times more protozoa left in the water than Sawyer PointOne filters allow.

Attach the Mini to the included drinking pouch, use the included straw to drink directly from your water source, connect it to hydration pack tubing (sold separately), or screw it onto standard disposable bottles (28 mm thread). The Sawyer Mini Water Filter is rated up to 100,000 gallons. It comes with 16-ounce reusable squeeze pouch, 7-inch drinking straw, and cleaning plunger.

Since 1984, Sawyer Products has offered the best, most technologically advanced solutions for protection against sun, bugs, water, and injuries — everything from first aid kits developed for wilderness to point-of-use water filters that filter contaminated water to levels cleaner than U.S. bottled water.

Best Choice I first saw this when a friend pulled it our of his pack and started filtering the dirty water (after some rain) of the East Fork of the Virgin River. It shaves of a TON of weight, and can filter pretty much as fast as my MSR (which I got to replace the heavier “PUR Expedition” that I used to have). The only thing that would be lighter is iodine pills, but I don’t love those and rarely need to get rid of THAT MUCH weight. Use this filter with a 2L or bigger Platypus for the “dirty…

A great choice of water purification This filter works perfectly, is very easy to use, and packs nicely. It is very easy to push the water through the filter. Simply hold the filter in the air and gravity will do all the work. I roll up the end of the bladder to help get the water through the filter a little faster but it does not take too much effort to do it. Once you find out the process that works best for you, you can easily get a few liters of clean water fast. I do wish that the bladder that came with it was larger than 16…

Broke after the second use! I want to love this product. It is highly rated in the backpacking community. It is light and easy to use. BUT I took it out on two overnight trips and it broke on the second night in the field! I didn’t do anything. It just came apart. I contacted the seller and they said: “well that’s unusual, but there’s nothing we can do.” You would think if it is so “unusual” they would stand by their product and replace it or at least give me some kind of discount.
