better quality one of these and bought this while thinking … I have an older, better quality one of these and bought this while thinking that it would be a great gift. Upon inspection, it seems that they have sacrificed quality over the years and it falls apart after the first couple uses. It isn’t near as solid or as high quality as the original. (Compare to the picture I posted)

Manufacturing no longer as controlled I used this model of multi tool since 2003, purchasing three in that time period (replacements due to losing the tool, confiscation at airports because I lost it in the bag, etc.) The design was innovative and the tool locking mechanism was simple but robust. The picture displayed is an older revision that was a great tool. These tools are now made in China … I have been using Schrade knives in meat cutting for over 50 years. When they came out with the tough tool many years ago, I was totally on board with them because of the quality of their products. Over the years I have bought at least 50 pairs of these pliers to use and to give as gifts for my employees and friends.
