The processing of iron has a long tradition in the Stubai Valley. The area iron mines were of such high quality that in the 14th century blacksmiths in Fulpmes were already producing hand tools. In 1897 engaged craftsmen formed a cooperative (marketed under the Stubai name) to manage the future for both production and sales. Today 26 member factories are processing several thousand tons of steel each year. The production program consists of a wide range of tools for professional users such as metal workers, woodworkers, woodcarvers, woodturners, forestry workers, auto mechanics, roofers, masons, tile setters, electricians and others. Our own forge manufactures products for our members and also semi-finished products for other industries in Austria and other European countries. Approximately half of the production is exported to more than 50 countries worldwide. The brand name “Stubai” stands for quality and workmanship. The Stubai Tool industry is the biggest hand tool manufacturer in Austria.

Great Value! I like the size and weight of the head. Very balanced and arrived nice and sharp
Seems like the head will go flying off The weight is good but I am concerned about the quality. The ax head is a little loose on the handle and seems to move a little. I am concerned that it will wear out the handle and come off. Much less quality than some hatchets I have bought at a much less cost. Weight was the biggest factor in choosing this one but for the price, I expected better quality.
High quality mini hatchet Excellent Austrian hatchet: head fitted properly and bit is nice and sharp. Suitable for light chopping and/or kindling. Good weight for backpacking. The haft is ash– straight grain and all, but I would have paid a bit extra for hickory. But the ash is good. After some hours of heavy use, the head is still tight– no gaps and the hardwood wedge is seated properly, too. The blade stays sharp after some hours of soft-wood limbing. This is a high quality tool for a very reasonable cost. I…
