if not the best of it’s type made in the world today The Suunto MC-2 compass is top of the line and one of, if not the best of it’s type made in the world today. My main complaint is that because there are several different versions of this compass being made and sold, getting the correct one through an on-line purchase is problematic. I am returning this compass only because I was sent the wrong version. Top of the Line This is a great product. If you are into compasses, you will already know this. The question is whether to buy the straight compass or the one with the mirror. I have both, and prefer the to GPS products. Call me old school. I like finding my way with a compass. And I find the mirror to be more accurate because you don’t have to lower the compass after sightin in order to turn the bezel ring. Great Compass, but model variations make it hard to know what you’re getting. I was looking for another quality hiking Compass, similar to my circa 1972 Silva Ranger. The hunt to find it’s equal was difficult, but lead me here; to the Suunto “MC-2/LIN” Compass. To begin with, let me say I am VERY pleased with it. It has the features and Quality that I was looking for. It’s just that even when I ordered it, I was uncertain exactly which variation of the Suunto Line, I was getting.
