Perfect Traveling Pillows! When these pillows arrive, they are so small from being vacuum-packed it’s hard to believe they become standard sized, but follow the instructions to wash and dry and you will be amazed. Then it’s hard to believe they will compress again, but roll them into the attached pocket and they are about 1/4 of their uncompressed size, less if you roll and pull the string hard. Not quite as small as their vacuum-packed size, but small enough to take a couple for traveling. Because of back issues I…

Your head and neck are worth a ThermARest pillow. Make sure you wash and dry it for loft. Thermarest pillows are totally worth it. I used to be one of those purists who wouldn’t dream of taking a luxury item like a pillow; you stuff clothes under or in your sleeping bag, or if you’re feeling decadent, you bring an empty pillow case to stuff. Yeah, getting older or just less puffed up about minimalism…whatever…a pillow is worth the weight, space, and expense. Makes the night much more pleasant. Makes carrying a pack the next day a lot more tolerable.

Backpack Pillow I own two of these Thermarest Compressible Pillows. I take the small pillow backpacking. No more smelly rolled up pants etc. for a pillow. I have a Medium pillow which I take car camping. They both loft up wonderfully if you unroll them as soon as you get to your destination. If towards morning you want more loft, just flip it and drift back to sleep. It is by far the very best backpack pillow I have ever tried! I have hiked 600+ miles on the AT.
