Perfect size, nice looking and works really well I wanted this to pack my husband soup or chili for lunch at his job. First though, I had to test it in a completely unscientific way to make sure it would suit.

Oatmeal Without Standing Over the Stove I bought this Thermos for one purpose: cooking steel cut oatmeal. I love the stuff but hated standing over the stove for 20 minutes to cook it. Now I put the oatmeal, boiling water, salt and raisins in the Thermos in the evening before I retire and I have perfectly cooked oatmeal with plump raisins in the morning. I save over an hour per week in meal preparation time. As a bonus, I can take the oatmeal with me if I have to leave the house early in the morning.

Comparison of three popular Thermos Containers w/ Photos I’ve posted detailed reviews of the three main Thermos stainless food containers. This size, the 16oz, and the 10oz. This version is my husband’s favorite, but is a little too large for me. Ideally you have the Thermos full, so it retains heat more efficiently, so having a container close to the approximate amount of food you want to eat is better than one that’s too large. I prefer the 16 oz version. (links to references below)
