The patented BlastMatch generates a stream of super heated sparks literally three times the heat of a standard match. You can easily light any material (wood, paper, bark, cloth, or man-made fire starting tinder) that a match will ignite. Best of all, you can accurately aim the sparks to ignite a roaring fire in all weather conditions and the BlastMatch will last a thousand strikes. If your BlastMatch becomes wet, simply wipe it off and it is ready for use. In combination with Ultimate Survival Technologies’ WetFire Tinder, an all weather starting tinder, you can start a fire even in the rain. At the heart of the BlastMatch is a custom bar of high performance flint material. Spring loaded for compactness, the flint bar also rotates 360 degrees to help prevent uneven wear. A carbide striker built into the striker button is set at the perfect angle for maximum sparking-making it easy for you to start a fire. The BlastMatch is also perfectly safe. To prevent accidental ignition the unique design requires you to press the thumb button in order to engage the striker mechanism. Good idea, but sub-par performance I’ve been using flint and steel style fire starters for a while now, and when I heard about how you could operate a Blastmatch with one hand, I got inordinately excited and bought one right away. Unfortunately, my experience with the Blastmatch has been very hit or miss so far. Due to the scraper’s design, when you get a good strike it creates a seriously big amount of sparks, with a surprisingly long lasting burn. The problem is getting a good strike in the first place. First, the bar has to…

Wanted to like it! After days of waiting and highly anticipating the arrival of my UST Blastmatch Fire Starter it was finally delivered. I opened the packaging and marveled at its ingenious design and then went outside to test it. Within the first couple of attempts to light a fire the adhesive that holds the flint rod in place failed and the rod fell on the ground… judging by the glowing reviews I’m assuming mine was defective but it seems like there is a weak point in the design, chiefly the method in which…

Decent ferrocium rod…horrible housing Quite simply the ferro rod continues to fall out.of the case. As I see it, you have 2 options.1. Super glue the rod into the housing.2. Use the 2 1/2 inch and 1/3 thick ferro rod by its self. I will keep mine separate and stash it in a survival tin.
