The insole didn’t feel like it had any arch support and the cushioning was … I bought these for my son and I for a 24-mile backpacking trip to climb Kings Peak in Utah. I took about two weeks to break them in on training hikes where I did get two small blisters. Once I dialed in my sock combination and once the shoes were properly broken in, I didn’t have any blisters on the trail. My son never reported any problems with blisters at all. Keepers. I’m pleased so far. OK, so I’ve had them a week. Walked maybe 8 miles so far, including the Independence Day parade today, and a couple of 2.5 mile gravel trail walks with the dog. I got Spenco’s top support insole with these too, and tossed the stock insole immediately, never even tried. The give me good support, protecting my feet from the walnut-sized rocks that are all too common in the gravel trails around here (Cascades). Comfy Hiking Shoe First of all, just let me note that I ordered these a half size larger after reading reviews of other Vasque shoes stating that they run a little bit small. I had to return them and order my regular size, I honestly feel I could go another half size smaller but I’ve chosen to stick with my normal size after checking an 8 year old pair of Vasque boots I own only to find they are my regular size as well.
