For years, Cold Steel has tried to bring to market one of the devastating Chinese styled hatchets used with such awesome effect in countless Kung Fu movies. The Cold Steel version, the Axe gang hatchet, is an authentically formidable weapon, not just a Prop for the cameras. It features a drop-forged head, with a differential heat treatment (hard edge-soft body), and a straight, four inch cutting edge (with sharp corners). in addition to that it has a straight grain American Hickory handle with the kanji characters that mean “Axe gang”. the sharp corners of the edge will easily Pierce the thickest skull and the razor sharp edge will shear through flesh and bone like it was white bread. Plus due to its substantial weight and straight handle, it’s easy to throw with great accuracy and is sure to explode any target with the most violent effect. Good reproduction of the Chinese hatchet. A very good reproduction of the traditional Chinese hatchet. It is very sturdy, and well balanced. I was a bit disappointed by the Chinese characters on the handle. From the picture, it appeared that they were carved in. However it appears to be a decal, which will wear off in time. Otherwise, I am very pleased; I bought 2 of them!BTW, if you’re not familiar with the reference “the Hatchet Gang,” check out the movie, Kung Fu Hustle.
Excellent quality The best hatchet Iâve ever owned, it chops incredibly well and the edge holds for a long long time, my handle spit and broke after about half a year but that was because I used it every day for work sun up to sun down. Even after it broke I was still able to use it to split large logs for a raft I was building. It is a great weapon too, used in the walking dead by Rick, itâs just an all around amazing tool and weapon. I will definitely keep buying this weapon.
Decent Characters are not engraved merely printed on the wood which I thought they would be carved into the wood… disappointed but not a game breaker doesn’t affect functionality. However I do feel like whacking with it the right way will snap the handle. Head seems of good quality for the price but definitely get what you pay for its not too sharp either but that’s a job for yoi. Overall Im keeping it for the wall and may throw it at my targets a few times. if someone were to break in or I needed…
