It works as advertised The whistle works, so does the compass. It throws a lot of sparks. Two to a pack. Nice addition to my EDC pack. No regrets.
JUNK-DO NOT BUY!!!!!!! JUNK-DO NOT BUY, if you want a USEFUL fire starter. These are so small that it is difficult to hold them. The coating on the “magnesium” rods is so thick that it need to be scraped off before you can get a spark. Very LOW QUALITY. The whistle doesn’t work at all, and the best part is that it costs you at least half of the purchase price to return them-i.e.-no free. “UPS drop off” option, even for Prime members (which I am.) BUYER BEWARE, LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!!!!
Excellent Tools to start a Fire when you find yourself out of Matches and Lighters! I bought these for an Emergency/Prepper Use! I tried using with dried grass/weeds, then paper, then cotton balls, then pine twigs, and thin wood pieces from “whittling”. All of these materials were easy to start a fire! The Best were pine twigs and wood shavings as simply increasing the size of the wood fuels makes it easy to get a cooking fire going quickly. Nothing better when you are Hungry!
