Arctic Ice maintains lower temperatures longer than ice or “blue” ice substitutes. This cooler insert’s reusable active ingredient, PureTemp is a non-toxic, biodegradable phase-change material (PCM) derived from plants. When Arctic Ice approaches its melting point (that’s the phase change) it begins absorbing more heat while stubbornly refusing to warm up. It holds a constant, pre-defined temperature until the entire cooler pack finally thaws. The Alaskan Series freezes at 1 Degree Celsius (33.8 Degrees Fahrenheit) and efficiently keeps food and drinks chilled much longer than the same volume of ice. For optimal performance, freeze Alaskan packs in any household freezer for at least eight hours prior to use.

TERRIBLE ARTIC ICE TUNDRA SERIES These have been in my freezer since 09/30/2015 with a temp of -2 degrees and they have yet to completely freeze. I do not think this is the Tundra Series, since I have been out shopping and all the Tundra Ice Series I have seen are dark purple on the outside. The ones I were sent is a very pale purple. Will not purchase again.

Really hoped this wasn’t going to disappoint, but… I purchased two of these, but ended up returning them in a week. Tried these according to manufacturer recommendations after reading the issues with these melting too soon. I ended up testing, freezing, thawing and refreezing with settings at -10 in the freezer. Nothing seems to work to keep them going longer.

Ashlee says:

When they are new, they work well… I’ve used both the 2.5 and 5# freezer blocks for several years. When they are new they work well, but drastically decline. I own an ice cream company and we use these to ‘replace’ dry ice for some applications. After many cycles of thawing and freezing they have ALL now lost their efficacy. (We have about 15 or so of these in the two sizes.) Definitely not a dry ice replacement as they claim to be. After about 20+ cycles, they just don’t freeze as cold anymore or stay frozen as long. I…
