Use it everywhere I have the smaller versions and thought they would last me years, then I found these so versatile in so many situations just around the house that I wore them out in short order. I have already used this starter and it throws a heck of a spark shower and I should have a much longer longevity.

Great size rod Nice size ferrocium rod makes it easier to utilize and lasts forever… I bought it for” the size” rod at a reasonable price. This is my main – grand daddy rod so to speak, I have many others, 5/16, and 3/8 that go on the knife loop, back pack, pocket, etc., but this one you keep in your pack as the go to that you don’t lose, too big for the knife really. Although, I have a leather fire rod belt loop fire rod holster especially made for the 1/2″ size for the belt if I want to…

Best ferro rod ever Best ferro rod ever. the lanyard wasn’t quite long enough to be a comfortable necklace but the rod is just simply off the hook. A great first timer, beginner learners rod but even the greats will love it. I went to Lowe’s and bought a $5 carbide sharper (Blue hawk) that was by the pruners and such and wow this doubled if not tripped the sparks. Like everything it takes some getting used to but what a great combo..The next one i buy wont have the lanyard but instead im gonna put a big key ring…
