Sturdy, easy to grip, and versatile for weeding and transplanting I had previously used a light mattock to dig out crabgrass and other weeds from my perennial beds, but that was hard on my shoulder and somewhat arthritic hands. This tool allows you to get close to the edges of a weed and put the full force of your forearm on the downward push. If you then pry up from the bottom, the weeds are loose enough to pull out cleanly. If you are trying to lift a plant for transplant, the same motions apply, plus you can cleanly cut a root you don’t want to tske along…
