Parma is part of the opal glass collection by Bormioli Rocco. The chemical components used to produce opal glass give it a distinctive, unmatched white color. It’s made with a tempering process which provides significant heat and shock resistance so it will withstand breaking or rough surfaces and temperature variations. Opal glass is five-six times more resitant than normal glass and it withstands constant use so it will last longer. Opal glass is lightweight so it’s simple to handle and stackable, saving shelf space. In addition, it is non-porous and is a cleaner, more hygienic glass.

Quality isn’t what I expected These bowls are a nice size and deep which I like. The inside of the bowl is a nice smooth china like texture however the outside is a rougher material. A fine plate set I wanted a set of small plates but didn’t want to pay a lot, and I ended up finding this set and am happy with them. The color is good, the textures are good [smooth on inside/top, lightly textured on outside], the size & shape are good. We had no trouble reheating soup in them in a microwave oven, & they did not appear to be directly heated by the microwaves, so I believe they are microwave-safe. (MONTHS LATER: We have microwaved & diswashered these many times, with no effect on…
