Brunton 70P compas On more than one occasion, the Brunton 70P deck mount compass has been a lifesaver in heavy fog off the coast of Maine. I have it mounted on my expedition kayak and have started out in perfect weather only later to have been overtaken by heavy fog. With basic navigation skills (inbound course = reciprocal in degrees of the outbound course). Do not buy Brunton has the worst customer service. (Update thanks Amazon for your excellent customer care, Amazon has replaced this compass for me. Iâm still not recommending this compass.) This is my second one the first on only lasted 3 years but in the 3 years the kayak was only out maybe 90 days and stored in the garage out of the sun and the case hazed and cracked. This one lasted 3 months just outside of the Amazon return time. After flipping my kayak over I noticed the compass was stuck out of level after removing it and shaking it a bit…
Fit WS Tempest 170 perfectly Very nice quality. Fits the Tempest deck recess perfectly. I highly recommend the gasket kit (not included) for a proper install. Look on YouTube for professional mouning tips. Very easy to install and align. I don’t reccomend using the included sheet metal screws. The very sharp points will snag on any gear placed inside the bow compartment. My gasket kit came with stainless nuts and bolts.
