The compass is built around powerful Alnico V magnets, which are mounted on a polished, cupped sapphire jewel bearing for quick, smooth measurements. The compass also takes vertical angle measurements to +/- 90 degrees (or 100 percent grade), with 5-percent grade scale increments.

Old school, but very good! I love Bruntons and. alas, lost mine that I’d had for 37 years. I felt downright nekkid. This was brand new in the box and all that I could have wished for. Great goods and great seller. Buy from them! Any questions? I didn’t think so. A+++
Like new? Could have fooled me, I think it is new. Well maybe somebody opened and closed the box but that’s about it. I bought it used for a great price, and it was honestly the best purchase I have made online/anywhere. Was a little wary buying used because I’ve been ripped off trying to buy Bruntons before. However this one was in perfect condition. The inclinometers lever was even still stiff indicating it has hardly been used.
