A good, basic folder First off, I like Buck knives. I own a few of their traditional slip joints, American made and Chinese made, and I love them. Most of the time I like to carry a small slip joint as well as a locking blade on me. Nothing too large or threatening. This knife fits the bill. It’s well-constructed and reliable. Typical of Buck. I have heard of blade centering issues on some of these Vantages. No issue with mine! Blade was perfectly centered. I guess Buck has corrected the problem or I got lucky…

Issues with the screw I like the feel of the knife, the sharpness, and the size. The pocket clip is in a great position as well. The value is unbeatable given it’s been made in U.S. The only somewhat annoying issue I have it is that the top screw keeps loosening up which makes the blade shift to the side a bit and rub against the inside of the handle every time I open and close the knife. I end up having to tighten the screw pretty often, and if I tighten it too far, the opening mechanism becomes too stiff and…

Still looking for an American made knife. I recently started collecting knives this past May. It started with The Swindle by CRKT a unique knife made in China and sold by an American company. Then I bought some other “budget” knives from Chinese companies that have had superb quality in build and materials. Thrown in there I’ve had some Japanese made American company knives like the Spyderco Delica and even a French Opinel. I wanted/needed an American made knife that was in the budget range.
