Great entry to this series, but you’ll want the base collection first. This book is basically an “Expansion pack” for the base collection. It will serve well enough on its own as a coffee table / curiosity book, but to truly be an effective tome for survival it needs to be paired with the boxed set containing its predecessors. This book helps to flesh out, in well drawn detail charmingly reminiscent of a “How-To” manual from the 1970s, the concepts and ideas outlined in the first 4 books. Not as good as expected. Just got the book today. It does have a lot of photos but not a lot of explanation of it. The traps need to go more in-depth. I just thought it would be more.

Not worth your time. Shame on you Dave Canterbury. You are better than this book. Bushcraft 101 was excellent. I have lent out Bushcraft 101 to Friends & Family. Everyone of them stated it was a truly informative book. Bushcraft Illustrated did not fit the bill as a informative bushcraft book. This book sole purpose is to be used by advance Bushcrafters who can use it for illustration, and illustration “only”, when teaching a beginner the Art of Bushcraft.
