3 year old nephew loved it! After opening this seemed pretty boring and basic to me, and the materials are pretty lightweight and cheap IMO but by nephew loved it just the same and kept asking me to put it together again and again. And again. I wish he could chop it more than once, after a single chopping motion the log splits, making the fun very short lived. Or rather, making the distraction short lived. It’s fun as heck for the kids but a pain in the rear for any adult around so it lost one star for me.
Chopping Fever This was purchased as a birthday gift for my 5 year old granddaughter. Bought as one of several camping toys meant to be played with together, although it could stand alone. The 6 and 7 year old sisters got in on the action too. They suddenly all became chop happy. Very easy for children to put the logs together and it stays together until you chop it apart. Finally a toy that is not just a piece of junk, this one really works. It makes for a very satisfying and safe chopping experience.
Perfect… for 4 year old Look… all I’m saying is that buying for a 4 year old boy is hard. Its either a hit or a miss. This thing was definitely a hit. My husband thought it was going to be a dud because what kid wants to sit there and chop a plastic log and put it back together over and over again? Well a 4 year old boy does. “Daddy look I can chop wood with an axe” was the first thing to come out of his mouth and this was the first toy he played with.
