The Best Inexpensive Compass Available This compass is both a bargain and a great value. I’ve purchased several inexpensive (under $10) compasses and this one is, by far, the best built. And, personally, I prefer the fact that it is strictly magnetic and not liquid filled.Although no longer made in Japan (now made in Taiwan), this compass is quality built. Take this on trips for just in case (UPDATE) I’m surprised for the price these work. I keep one dangling from my purse while traveling. Sometimes it’s easy to get turned around while walking around unfamiliar towns and this compass can keep you on track.UPDATE:.
