The word ‘Leatherneck’ has become synonymous with the famous U.S. Marines since 1776 when Congress compelled all marines to wear a thick, high leather collar (known in the vernacular of the day as a “stock”). this collar served two purposes; first, it helped protect one’s neck from sword and cutlass blows, and second, it forced a marine to keep his head up straight, exhibiting the military posture that was fashionable at the time. Today, after two centuries of personal sacrifice on and off the battlefield, Leathernecks enjoy the love, respect, and admiration of every true American and it is to them Cold Steel dedicates this Series of battle ready knives. The Series has two distinct blade styles. Both are made from German 4116 stainless steel and finished with a rich Tuff-Ex&trage; non reflective coating: the Leatherneck-SF (for Semper-Fi) has a Saber ground clip point blade. It’s hollow ground and honed by hand to a startling razor sharpness. It’s incredibly sharp blade is 7″ long and hollow ground by hand.

One tough knife The Kabar steel is very good but the rat tail tang is easily bent. This knife solves that problem. Videos of our Russian friends abusing the Leatherneck should answer any questions on how tough the knife is. I like the Tanto because the thickness of the spine extends nearly to the tip. Thinner knives cut better, but break easier. Flat grinds cut better, but are thinner, and break easier. I dont think anybody is buying this knife just to pare apples. I would prefer a grind like the Kabar but the…

The Best Knife for Combat and Just About Anything Else If I could take only one fixed blade knife into a war zone, this would be it. The blade is forged from tough D2 steel, one of the very best for hard use. It’s not fully “stainless steel,” but it is coated with a “Diamond Like Coating” except for the very cutting edge. A modicum of care will keep this knife rust- and corrosion free–such as keeping a bit of oil on the edge. The tanto point means that you can penetrate metal with this knife without the tip breaking off–which…

Super beautiful I ordered this and the Leatherneck SF. These are just two more blades to my collection; and I have to say they are both beautiful. My biggest problem is that I want to give a friend his choice of which one he would rather have. That means I will have to replace the one he chooses. Oh well. Everything about these knives is perfect as well as the sheaths. Both are razor sharp and well greased. I keep thinking there must be a favorite in my collection; but unfortunately I can’t find one. Blades…
