About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a “no light, no pay” clause–a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked–and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.
In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company’s current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. Great canopy for windy conditions! Look no further– if you need a sturdy canopy that’s not hard to set up, this is the one! I did a lot of research before buying this canopy because I needed something for shade on a windy beach. Together with the King Canopy 17-inch weight bags (purchased separately and highly recommended!), which we fill with sand on the beach before wrapping around each leg of the canopy, this item has served us well on many beach trips and withstood some rather gusty conditions– the trick is to set it up…
THIS IS THE CANOPY YOU WANT!!!!! After reading a LOT of reviews on Amazon for different canopies, I decided to buy this one based on so many favorable reviews (thanks so much to all those that actually take the time to write reviews!). I was not disappointed. I didn’t even watch the video, so I just assumed the setup was minimal. Ha! This thing is one durable framework that extends as you pull the sides into position, and latches in place. It is height adjustable too. You definitely need two people to extend the frame…
Nice, Held up to beach winds. This held up to some pretty heavy winds at the beach. The instructions don’t even talk about the anchor ropes that are attached to the corners. They are for the anchors and are well attached. I spend a lot of time at the beach and I knew to immediately order the 15″ screw anchors for the sand.
