Not built to Columbia’s usual standard in my opinion This is my second pair of Columbia hiking shoes and this pair is terribly disappointing. The support has crushed in the shoes, and while the fit is good, they are not built to Columbia’s usual standard in my opinion. I get moderate use out of them, as while I wear them all the time, I work a desk job and have knee problems. I won’t buy these again.

Love Columbia shoes, comfortable, affordable and great looking. Great looking shoes, well packaged with prompt delivery. Each shoe had wadded paper inside to keep its shape. The laces are nylon and slightly stretchy so the shoes are very comfortable for my semi-wide feet. The soles were annoying squeaky when walking on hardwood floors but once I wore them out, they were fine when I returned home. I was replacing an older pair of Columbia shoes, a model they do not make anymore unfortunately. But I am very satisfied with the replacement and at an affordable…

Good budget hiking shoes I own a pair of the previous north plains shoes and I have been happy with them. They lasted over 2.5 yrs but they have developed a hole in each shoe on the side by the little toe. To replace them, I ordered the north plains II as well as merrell moab ventilators 1 and 2 , plus keen oakridge for comparison.The North Plains II are essentially the same as my previous gen pair.
